a Sankalpa and the Winter Solstice

Today is the shortest day of the year
It will only get lighter, longer from here
I like to think of it as the bottom of a swimming pool
Your feet hit
You feel the surface and push
Back up to the light
The air
To breathe
To ask again, “who am I?”
And, “how do I wish to live?”

A sankalpa is an inspired intention
It is a vow of heartfelt desire and willful determination
It is a statement of guidance
It allows us to see what we really seek
“Who am I”
“How do I wish to live?”

What better day to lay down a seed
Sink it down in the dark
So it can push up towards the light
And become who we always were all along

“I am on a journey speaking from my soul.
Living to tell the tale-
Of a few sad stories and a lot more fun ones.
I’m hoping I light up every room I walk into.
I travel with a suitcase full of outrageous blessings and it’s
packed with radical gratitude.
I am living in deep joy and a present awareness as a writer, wife, daughter-sister friend.”

I hope to see you on the road, in the light, living your truth.
